Act Like Men Palooza

The Act Like Men Palooza is an event that creates an opportunity for every man to encounter the life-giving, life-changing, living God of the universe. It will be 3 days of sessions packed with worship and unapologetic preaching from the Word of God speaking into the real life issues of every man. There will be planned time around the campfire debriefing each session, praying with each man & committing to walk more fully in step with the Gospel. We will have a weekend-long competition along with multiple competition times littered throughout the weekend to build community & brotherhood. The Palooza will sharpen men to be sent back out as 'arrows of righteousness' into their marriages, families, workplaces and beyond.

Act Like Men Palooza is one of the greatest events in human history because men are choosing to step out of everyday life to meet the living God who alone in a moment can change their everything!

This event is restricted to men who have attended 4 out of the 5 Discipleship Nights that have been held over the 2016/2017 season.

When registering, choose campsite group "WOLVES".

Any questions can be directed to Chris Persons at cpersons@harvestrochester.org.

Parent Commitment & Child Dedication Services

WHAT CHILD DEDICATION IS

We believe that God must be a part of our family life if it is to be good and healthy. “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” Psalm 127:1

We believe that parents’ actions in raising their children are important to God. We have a responsibility as followers of Christ to raise our children in a way that will please the Lord. “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4

In Scripture there is an example of dedicating children to the Lord. In 1 Samuel 1:1126-28, Hannah vowed to dedicate her child to the Lord if He would grant her one. The Lord honored her request and she kept her vow, dedicating Samuel to the Lord. “ . . . then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life.”1 Samuel 1:11

As a Christian parent, by dedicating your child to the Lord, you are acknowledging your need for God in your family. You are inviting God to be active in your family life, submitting your own desires for your child to God’s desires, and making a commitment to raise your child in God’s way.

We believe that your child is not only yours but is a gift from God. We are earthly stewards of the life God has placed in our home. “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.” Psalm 127:3-5

The responsibilities the Lord has entrusted to parents include continuously praying for their children (Deuteronomy 6:4-9), instructing them in the way of the Lord, setting a godly example, and disciplining them as the Lord would discipline us (Proverbs 29:151713:24). As parents, you are only able to do these things through Christ’s strength (Philippians 4:13).

WHAT CHILD DEDICATION IS NOT

This isn't the day of salvation for your child! Salvation is the free gift of God, received when someone grasps his or her need for Christ and makes the conscious decision to enter into a relationship with God.

It isn’t baptism for your child. Baptism is the public profession of faith as described above. Once a child is old enough to make a decision to accept Christ as his or her personal Savior, then he or she can make a choice to be baptized.

PARENT COMMITMENT & CHILD DEDICATION SERVICES

At Harvest Rochester, we typically hold a Parent Commitment & Child Dedication service during our main services at 9:00AM and 11:00AM at Kellogg Middle School. This portion of the service lasts about 15-20 minutes where a pastor will introduce your family to the congregation, ask you a couple questions about your commitment, and then ask the church to pray for you and encourage you and your family as you live out God's desires for your life. You can register to participate in this service below.

Step 2: GROW

Step 2 is about growing in your walk with Christ at Harvest.
It's a great way to learn about and grow in how to follow Jesus and the mission He has given us.

This 2-hour class is happening on Sunday, October 9 from 10:30AM - 12:30PM.

Led by a couple of our leaders, you'll find out what it means to worship, walk with, and work for Christ—and how to put those into practice in your life. At Step 2 you'll also learn about how to become a committed part of our Harvest family and how to continue growing in your relationship with God and with others in our church.
